I never thought I would see the day when I would be sharing an avocado recipe with you. Me and avocado…well…we’re not exactly BFFs.

To put it more bluntly, I hate the stuff. HATEHATEHATE it. The only way I ever usually go anywhere near avocado is when it’s mashed with tomatoes, jalapeños and spices in guacamole (and that’s when the guacamole is tucked into a fat burrito under layers and layers of cheese and salsa!)

But this? This stuff is amazing. The thing that really does it for me is the texture – it’s unbelievable. The pureed avocado creates the most fantastic silky, smooth, velvety texture that I’ve honestly never experienced in any other dessert EVER.

And the taste? Well, I’m not going to lie to you – you can taste the avocado just a teeny tiny bit. But I really don’t think it will bother you. If an avid avocado hater like myself can eat it by the bucket load, I’m sure you can get onboard, too.

This skinny chocolate mousse is the perfect mid-afternoon pick-me-up that I desperately need. Living in Tenerife, I’ve adopted the Canarian tradition of indulging in a siesta in the afternoons on a weekend, so come Monday, my body starts dozing off at about 2.30pm and I need a way to keep it awake because it turns out that the people in the office aren’t pro-siesta and sleeping at your desk is against office policy. Who knew? Luckily, this delicious skinny chocolate mousse is just the thing to keep me going until dinner time!
